HISTORY:
James
and I have been recording our music from the time Dad gave
us our first mono reel-to-reel dinky toy and although the
equipment has changed somewhat, the fun remains the same.
My
interest in computers and electronics grew out of Dad's love
of anything that you built with a soldering iron. He would
lock himself away in a small room at the back of the house
and fix old two-way radios and tape machines. He even built
a Schrodor two keyboard organ from a kit.
Over many years as a musician and producer I have had some
great opportunities to record in large studios. Although this
was a fantastic learning experience, it was always my dream
to have my own studio.

Five
years ago Natalie's parents, Chris and Bohita, (an engineer
and architect respectively) designed and built us a new home
in Crows Nest and finally I could have my recording studio.
I began to collect bits and pieces from all over the place
and before the carpet was even laid we had recorded the first
CD "Swingin Upstairs".
Since
then James has built a studio at his home and between the
two premises we can produce high quality 24 bit digital recordings
on our MRM custom recorders.
Next
came the label - Morrison Records of course! We teamed up
with James' brother-in law David Green, (keep it in the family)
who has a good business and marketing background and now we
happily market our music as well.
Check
out Morrison
Records website for all the latest releases.

For
those interested in the techie side of things, here are
some of the goodies that we use in the studio.

MORRISON
STUDIOS FOR HIRE: Yep we are open for
business and producing many of Australia's top selling jazz
albums.
If
you are interested in making a CD with us, some of the following
info might get you started.
My
studio in Crows Nest, Sydney, is the "mastering"
studio.
WHAT
IS MASTERING YOU SAY.
Mastering
an audio recording for CD reproduction is the final important
step in the audio recording process. As well as adding the
finishing touches to the sound of the recording, a delicate
screening process also ensures that what is given to the duplicating
plant is what the customer will buy in the store.
After
the final master is prepared, you have a disk that may be
mass produced, used as a demo or simply played on a regular
CD player.
HOW
MUCH DOES IT COST?
"One
off" CDs are easy and cheap. You bring your work to us
on a DAT tape, mini disc or cassette and in three hours you
walk out with a great sounding CD. This is basic mastering
to CD-R and is great for demos.
Price
for a "One off" CD includes three hours mastering
time and the CD.
$
385 (Aus incl GST)

The
500 CD pack deal is also quick and easy. Price includes mastering
as above and the 500 raw discs delivered in 14 days to your
door.
$
1,980 (Aus incl GST)
If
you require a complete recording package we can also arrange
this for you but prices vary depending on the size of the
project. (Number of recording days, photos, post production
and artwork etc). We can get you organized with everything
from music licensing to product promotion and distribution.
Prices for a complete package of 1000 CDs are around $7 per
disk.

Email
or give me a call (02) 9901-4414 to arrange a visit to the
studio and discuss your project.
