In
addition to playing lead trombone in Swing City, Roy brings
to our Swing City team a lifetime of valuable business &
management experience in the music industry.
After
a chance meeting one night in New York City with James &
John Morrison in 1986, Roy immediately formed what has become
a long and successful association with the Morrison family,
which continues to this day.
In
1989 Roy became the USA representative for James & John
Morrison until the brothers decided to bring Roy to Australia
in January 1992 to manage the office of James Morrison Enterprises
as their exclusive agent.
After
managing James Morrison's office for almost six years, Roy
then set up his own music management company and shortly
thereafter teamed up with John Morrison to promote and manage
Swing City, Australia's most successful full time swing
big band.
Roy
now combines his love of playing trombone together with
his music business experience by representing and managing
3 highly successful Australian bands which he also performs
with as a trombonist, John Morrison's Swing City, Monica
Trapaga & The Moochers and The John Field Band.
Roy
has performed as a Trombonist in The United States with
the following artists
Mel
Tormé Big Band, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra (Ghost Band),
Barry Harris Big Band, The Original Four Aces, Sammy Kay
Orchestra, Nick Brignola, Bobby Vinton, Guy Lombardo, The
1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics Awards Band, Ice Follies
and Holiday On Ice. In numerous big band gigs in NYC Roy
sat alongside such notable names such as: Marion McPartland,
Jimmy McPartland, Frank Foster, Milt Hinton, Joe Lavano,
Wayne Andre and Dave Stahl.

Australia, Roy has performed with artists such as:

Morrison's Swing City, James Morrison Big Band & Funk
Band, Monica & The Moochers, Don Burrows, Grace Knight,
Frank Bennett, Ignatius Jones, Rhonda Burchmore, Jackie

Big Band.
