On
the 7th of November 1999, Swing City played to over 5000 people
in the Showring at the gala opening of FOX Studios in Sydney.
On
the 2nd of December 1999 the band played the presentation
feature for The Ethnic Business Awards televised by SBS and
watched by over two million people.
On
New Year's Eve 1999, Swing City opened the millennium celebrations
with a public performance at the Southern Forecourt of the
Sydney Opera House and then performed that same night at the
Sydney Lord Mayors Party on the Northern Forecourt.
January
2000 and Swing City played the feature entertainment at the
gala dinner for the Greg Norman Golf Classic.
In
early March 2000 Swing City teamed up for three concerts with
Monica Trapaga as part of the Taronga Zoo series. (Over 4000
tickets sold for this event)
In
April 2000 Swing City played the pre-game entertainment at
the Sydney Swans AFL game at the Sydney Football Stadium swinging
the crowd of 30,000 with a Hollywood show set!
In
May 2000 Swing City performed the opening number at the APRA
awards with James Morrison. This event presented Australia's
most accomplished musical talent.
June
2000 and Swing City performed with Ignatius Jones for the
"Clean Up the World" Charity Ball at FOX Studios.
Rhonda Burchmore then joined us later at the Sutherland Entertainment
Centre for a packed out concert!!
July
2000 had Swing City with Monica Trapaga at the Mackay Jazz
Festival and a big band swing night at the Southport School
on the Gold Coast.
In
August 2000 Swing City featuring Monica Trapaga SOLD OUT the
Epping RSL with a dinner show in the ballroom.
September
11th 2000 Swing City was the headline act at the SOCOG welcome
party in Centennial Park for 5,000 of the world's media personnel
attending the Sydney Olympic Games.
September
15th, 2000 and an estimated 4 billion people watched Swing
City play the opening fanfare with James Morrison at the Sydney
2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony!
On
September 30th 2000 Swing City performed at the Sydney Domain
to over 40,000 people in a special concert written by John
Morrison and Leslie Moore entitled "Swing City &
The Legends of Australian Jazz" featuring special guests
James Morrison, Emma Pask, Ed Wilson, Tom Baker, Graeme Bell,
Bob & Len Barnard & Errol Buddle.

October
4th 2000 Swing City was back at the Sydney Domain once again
with special guest Monica Trapaga to perform for Michael Knight's
"Thank You Concert" for all the Sydney Olympic Volunteers.
On
New Years Eve 2000 Swing City performed on the Aqua Shell
in Cockle Bay to a standing room only crowd at Darling Harbour.
Later that night the band took centre stage at Hyde Park in
front of a capacity crowd and had the park swinging until
4:30 am!
On
January 1st 2001 the band performed a twilight audience in
Hyde Park once again before moving over to the Aqua Shell
in Darling Harbour one more time to perform a big band show
conceived and written by John Morrison entitled "A Century
Of Music" which featured special guests Geoffrey Ogden
Brown, Janet Seidel, Ed Wilson, Jeff Duff and John Field,
among others.
January
25th 2001 Swing City provided the entertainment for the annual
Australia Day Luncheon for the Australia Day Council at the
Darling Harbour Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The
next day, Australia Day 2001, Swing City performed an encore
performance of it's Federation Celebration show "A Century
Of Music " at Darling Harbour to a packed house. Later
that night the band traveled to Liverpool to perform a second
Australia Day outdoor concert with special guest Monica Trapaga
at Woodward Park for Liverpool Council.
To
wrap up the Australia Day weekend, Swing City performed for
Sutherland Shire Council at their "Jazz On The Beach"
concert on Saturday, January 27th, in Cronulla Park to a massive
outdoor audience.
February
2001 and once again Greg Norman asked Swing City to headline
the entertainment at the Australian Golf Classic.
March
2001 and Swing City performs a special concert in Broken Hill
at a sacred Aboriginal site. Regarded as Australia's most
unique jazz festival stage, the "Living Desert"
natural rock amphitheater has to be seen to be heard!
Also
in March 2001 Swing City featured at the NSW Jazz Action Society's
concert series. This special night showcased the many hidden
talents from within the band.
The
hit musical "Singing in the Rain" opened in May
in Sydney and Swing City is asked to play for 1500 special
guests at the opening night celebrations. What a hoot! The
glitteratti were out in full force and were swingin their
tails off.
