Born
in country South Australia Darryl started the trumpet at
the age of 13. He moved to Adelaide where he spent five
years studying a Bachelor of Music at the Adelaide Conservatorium
of Music.
After
freelancing and teaching in Adelaide Darryl moved to Sydney
in 1996. His experience includes the theatre shows Miss
Saigon, Crazy for You, Hello Dolly, Cabaret, Showboat, Frank
- the Sinatra Story and Hot Shoe Shuffle. He has also played
lead trumpet for the Moscow Circus, the Australian Dance
Championships, the 1999 AFI awards, the opening of Fox Studios
and is the lead trumpet for John Morrison's Swingcity.
In
late 1995 Darryl toured through the USA where he performed
at the Monterey Jazz Festival.
He
has performed with Bobby Shew, James Morrison, Don Burrows,
Normie Rowe, Glen Shorrock, Jo-Beth Taylor, Rhonda Burchmore,
Caroline O'Conner and Renee Geyer.
